Alumni Kevin Lian

altKevin Lian is a graduate of UC Irvine’s School of Hard Knocks, where he majored in the field of Sociology. While studying at UC Irvine he played an active role in the American Red Cross’ youth summer camp, Leadership Development Center (LDC), as both Programs and Camp Director.  Kevin is also a proud member of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI), a Greek, social fraternity.

In 2011, Kevin was introduced to the Taiwanese American Citizens League (TACL) through its premiere Political Internship Program. Since completing the program he looks forward to having a hand in crafting the future of TACL.

Kevin believes that most of life’s successes can be found with Persistence. As he views it, the glass is always half-full and if it happens to be otherwise, he’ll look for one that is. In his spare time, Kevin likes to read and enjoys being anywhere without a roof.

Internship reflection: I strongly advise anyone with an interest in PEOPLE and SOCIETY to apply to the Political Internship Program. It will take you on a journey of a lifetime.

This internship was ultimately a gift from the heavens above. I now have a better understanding of CA state politics and experience in the planning to execution stages of an event, such as that of a Small Business Seminar which in my case drew a crowd of 150 participants. But above all, the Summer Internship Program gave me the opportunity to learn and understand my identity as a Taiwanese American (TA) and also create a network of friends and associates who I can count on to support me in my personal and professional life. By this alone, I have gained that which is priceless, and because of it, I will be forever grateful.
