Internship Reflection:
"Yes, I did sacrifice the chance to get ahead in school by taking summer classes, and I did sacrifice the chance to earn extra money to help pay for school tuition, but not only did I gain invaluable experience in an office-setting, but I was also able to acquire a deeper view and understanding of the political world, which is something one cannot learn from a mere classroom/textbook setting.
It was especially difficult when the weather outside was sunny and beautiful, but I was stuck in the office building in business attire instead of shorts and tank top. However, upon reflection today, I have to admit that I would not trade this summer’s experience and insight that I have gained for anything.
And most importantly, I have gained six new friends—my internship class—as well as the amazing office staff I worked with, all of whom I never would have met if I had not been involved in this program."
