Alumni Jeffrey Shieh

altJeff Shieh graduated from UC Berkeley in 2009 at the top of his department with a double major in Chinese and Japanese Languages and a minor in Korean Language. He was a recipient of the MEXT Scholarship from the Japanese government and studied abroad for one year from 2005-2006 at Osaka University of Foreign Studies. He has also studied abroad at Seoul National University on the SNU President's Scholarship. In 2008, he interned at California State Assemblymember Mike Eng's office through the TACL Political Internship program, and received the Joyce Chiang Award upon completion of the program.

Currently, Jeff is on his second year on the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme as a Coordinator for International Relations (CIR), and is working in Uchinada Town, located next to Kanazawa City in Ishikawa Prefecture. He serves on the local AJET board as the Central Ishikawa Representative. He is also involved in the local Uchinada Bible Church and serves on their music team.

With his language background, Jeff hopes to pursue a career in international relations.
