From the President:

Hi friends:

It was a wonderful TAP year, culminating in our successful Annual Banquet & Casino Night. View the pictures. We had over 300 people in attendance, including many community leaders, organizations, and First Generation Taiwanese, who came to support our featured Taiwanese American honorees: Community Advocate Tsuann Kuo and Movie Director Justin Lin.  We also saw the closing ceremony of TACL's Political Internship Program which featured Assemblymember Ted Lieu as the Keynote Speaker, and marked the end of another successful internship.  A testament to the program is many former interns continue to be committed to giving back and being involved with the community, as almost half of our new Cabinet Members were former interns.

I am excited about our new cabinet that was elected just last month, and what's in store for the coming year.  TAP hopes to continue focusing on developing community oriented leaders, and improving upon our representation in the mainstream.  We aim to expand upon our professional development and help the community even more over the next year.

We have taken a short break recently, and will be planning the upcoming TAP year again soon at our Cabinet Retreat.  If you would like to help out and/or have ideas for future events/activities, do not hesitate to e-mail us.  You can contact any of our cabinet members here:  http://tap.tacl.org/officers.htm In the meantime, we still have a few Community Events this month that we are supporting, including a Leadership Conference with LEAP on the 22nd and asking for TAP Volunteers for the upcoming Harvest Moon Festival on the 23rd. We encourage you to attend both if possible.  One event will help to develop yourself professionally, while the other aims at increasing our recognition within the community through service.  We also are supporting the ABA Small Business Exchange on the 13th, and I am on the honoree dinner committee for the APEX banquet on the 15th.  See below for all the upcoming events.

Finally, all of you please support the bill AB295, authored by Assembly member Ted Lieu, who's Taiwanese. TACL's Political Interns lobbied on behalf of it over the summer, and is an important bill for Taiwanese Americans. Go here to have a letter sent to the governor, and please pass on to all your friends Taiwanese or non to help flood letters to Arnold, so he'll take notice: http://www.aacre.org/action/actionAB295governor/

TAP President
