From the President: Hi friends: March saw record attendance at our social events! Over 60 people came to our Rowland Heights Dinner Group, with additional people who came after to meet at Dream Lounge. For the BLING themed party at Level 3 Hollywood, over 200 people signed up for our guestlist for a successful fundraising event. Pictures of many of our past events can be found here: http://tap.tacl.org/gallery.htm A portion of the party proceeds will be going towards TAP and TACL's programs, ranging from our 20 year tenured Political Internship program, Entertainment Internship, Youth Leadership Camp, and other community events and causes. March also saw a special opportunity for TAP members to meet, hear, and learn from a distinguished speaker talk specifically about Taiwan's situation. Bruce Herschensohn, author of "Taiwan: The Threatened Democracy" as a non-Taiwanese American, showed concern about the well-being of Taiwan and its Democracy, and related its situation in a way that the greater population could understand. TAP also lent support to the AB295 Bill, that would help to enhance Taiwanese identity, as well as other API ethnicities. So far it has passed through the first committee! For April, continue to look for various events to help develop members. First, TAP is hosting a professional development seminar on Personal Finance. Next TAP Leaders are VIP guests to APEX's Community Leaders Reception. Then TAP is helping to support a fellow Taiwanese American Professional's company, which is sponsoring a different and new kind of event: drift racing! Mid April, TAP officers are off on their midterm retreat to plan the rest of the year. We still need volunteers and participants! Please contact me at ben.ling@tacl.org or our Vice President Teiko.Sumiyoshi@tacl.org if you are interested in helping out as a coordinator or committee member for the upcoming SEMISCON concert on May 19th, or our Casino Night Annual Banquet in August. This is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable experience and to meet various community contacts, and you can also join us on our retreat in Vegas! Ben Ling
