Hi Taiwanese American Professional Members, Family and Friends, and Community!

Your TAP Board and Staff have been busy behind the scenes with many recent events such as the Taiwanese American Heritage Week/Festival in May! However, if you missed all the fun festivities, we have a variety of special events that you won't want to miss!

June got to relaxing start with evening at the theaters as we joined Taiwanese American Director Christina Yao at the AMC Criterion 6 on the Promenade in Santa Monica. Many of us gathered to watch the premiere release of Empire of Silver. A wholehearted "thank you!" goes out to both Sibyl Chen and Christina for making a guest appearance at our movie outing, as they had to rush back to San Francisco the next day for another premiere viewing with TAP-SF! (more information about the film and director can be found towards the bottom/end of this newsletter).

So what is instored for the month of June?

Happy Thursdays = TAPpy Hour!
TAPpy Hour is back this month! Come join us for a summer cocktail (or two!) at Silk Lounge on Thursday, June 16th. It will be a great opportunity to meet and network with other Taiwanese Americans and working professionals.

Recently she co-authored a resolution which passed the House supporting arms sales, including F16 aircraft, to help ensure Taiwan maintains a sufficient self-defense capability. Ros-Lehtinen is also a strong advocate for a US-Taiwan Free Trade Agreement and has called on the US Trade Representative to open talks with Taiwan.

Based in Los Angeles, the Formosa Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting greater understanding of the relationship between Taiwan and the United States, and preserving and enhancing democracy, human rights and freedom for the people of Taiwan.
