Hi Taiwanese American Professional Members, Family and Friends, and Community!
Your TAP Board and Staff have been busy behind the scenes with many recent events
such as the Taiwanese American Heritage Week/Festival in May! However, if you missed
all the fun festivities, we have a variety of special events that you won't want
to miss!
June got to relaxing start with evening at the theaters as we joined Taiwanese American
Director Christina Yao at the AMC Criterion 6 on the Promenade in Santa Monica.
Many of us gathered to watch the premiere release of Empire of Silver.
A wholehearted "thank you!" goes out to both Sibyl Chen and Christina for making
a guest appearance at our movie outing, as they had to rush back to San Francisco
the next day for another premiere viewing with TAP-SF! (more information about the
film and director can be found towards the bottom/end of this newsletter).
So what is instored for the month of June?
FORMOSArt!
This month, TAP is proud to present the launch of our first cultural art program
of its kind, FORMOSArt - lead and organized by Mr. Kalen Fu and a dedicated group
of young artists and volunteers. Come join them and the Taiwanese American community
at the opening reception of our first official FORMOSArt Exhibition - The People
of Today, the Memories of Tomorrow. The opening reception will be on June 18th,
6:00pm~9:00pm at Museum X of Contemporary Art.
Get your Hong-Chih Kuo Bobblehead!
The 2011 Major League Baseball season is on, and what better way to unwind your
work stress on a summer evening than kick-back with TAP family and friends at Dodger
Stadium to watch the boys in blue take on the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday, June 14th.
Seating is limited - get your tickets today!
Happy Thursdays = TAPpy Hour!
TAPpy Hour is back this month! Come join us for a summer cocktail (or two!) at Silk
Lounge on Thursday, June 16th. It will be a great opportunity to meet
and network with other Taiwanese Americans and working professionals.
Treasures of the Taiwanese American Community: Undocumented & Uncovered.
Come roll with NATWA (North American Taiwanese Women's Association 2) and TAP, Taiwanese
style, on Saturday, June 25th, 2:00pm -
5:00pm as we dig into our rich history and have an interactive demonstration
about a treasured Taiwanese dish-lunpia*. Over our great creations, we will also
listen to personal stories of our fellow Taiwanese and discuss about undocumented
Taiwanese students and how the DREAM ACT is important to our community. Don't miss
our joint event with NATWA II: Treasures of the Taiwanese American Community: Undocumented
