Kalen is a lifestyle portrait & event photographer. He shoots anything from weddings,
family portraits, newborns, children, and even maternity. He studied under many
well-established photographers in both the wedding and the fine art photography
community, and launched his own brand of photography in the summer of 2009, Photo
Kronology. He believes that true value of photo journalism and the aesthetics in
an image comes from communicating the true intrinsic value of a given moment (in
relation to the subject) to the audience.
Kalen has a very strong tie to his Taiwanese Heritage. He visits Taiwan regularly
on an annual basis to stay connected with his roots, as well as friends and family.
In one of his recent visits, he started a personal photography project called "The
Home I see". It's a series of urban landscapes and street photography in different
corners of Taiwan, captured through his own creative expressions. It's an on-going
project that he plans to spend the rest of his career cultivating, and hopes to
exhibit one day alongside with other Taiwanese American visual artists/creative
professionals in group gallery exhibition that showcases the creative talents the
Taiwanese American community has to offer.
Kalen's favorite sport is basketball, but unlike most So Cal residents, he's actually
not a hardcore Lakers fan. Instead, he's a fan of the Phoenix Susn, and Steve Nash
is his favorite player. His favorite readings are kung-fu novels and comic books,
and anything Muragami Haruki.
