The Leadership Identity Development (LID) program is the youth development adjunct of the Taiwanese American Citizens League. Its goals are to educate the younger Taiwanese American
generation, promote culture and community, instill a sense of social responsibility and provide an
atmosphere where youth can gain leadership experience and insight in the context of their heritage.

The Journalism Internship program is co-sponsored by Pacific Times, a Taiwanese A
merican weekly newspaper based in Rosemead, California. The purpose of the program is to provide a
learning experience for talented Taiwanese American youth who may choose journalism or media as thei
r career. Journalism interns will learn firsthand, the production and distribution of a newspaper a

TAP enhances the Taiwanese-American community by networking individuals interested in professional and career development, while emphasizing the preservation of Taiwanese American identity. These short educational workshops are part of an overall curriculum to help
Taiwanese Americans gain critical leadership skills and community involvement information. Public
speaking, organizational skills, time management, and various other workshop topics are available.
In addition, Civics 101, Voter Registration, Issues Campaigns, are also offered.
As part of leadership development, TACL sponsors a weekend
long retreat workshop for organizational leaders. Rudimentary skills required for leading effective
organizations in the non-profit context are conveyed. Public speaking, moderating contentious forums,
conflict resolution, and assertiveness training are provided. Legal and financial matters that are
important to non-profits are presented, as are fundraising and grantwriting methodology.
